Farm Fence Supplies FAQ
For Central Kansas we point most folks to 12.5-gauge, Class 3 galvanized barbed wire. The 12.5 gauge holds tension without being a fight to stretch, and Class 3 has the heavier zinc coating that fends off the rust our humidity and freeze-thaw bring on. Lighter wire and Class 1 coating cost less up front but you'll be replacing it sooner — we'll lay out the tradeoff before you buy.
It comes down to your footage, strand count, and post spacing.
