Farm Fence Built for Arlington Ground

Arlington is a working farm town, and the fencing out here has to work just as hard. Sitting in the western edge of Reno County along the old Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska rail line that once ran from Herington to Pratt, Arlington has run on grain and cattle since it was platted back in 1877. River Creek Fence drives out to Arlington and the surrounding farms on a regular basis, building the woven wire, barbed wire, field fence, and pasture cross-fencing that holds livestock and marks ground that's been worked for generations.

Owner Cody Yoder grew up around farm ground and livestock, so a job in Arlington is the kind of work we know best — cattle that lean hard on a corner brace, big perimeter runs across open prairie, and gates wide enough to move equipment and a herd through. We're based right here in Central Kansas, just a short run east, and we treat a fence going up west of Hutchinson the same way we'd treat one on our own place: stretched tight, braced heavy, and built to stand.

Whether you're fencing a quarter section of wheat and milo ground, running cattle on grass, keeping a few horses behind the house, or want a tidy yard fence in town, we'll come out, walk the line with you, and give you a straight, free estimate. No pressure and no runaround — just a fair price on a fence that lasts.

Local Knowledge

Wire, Wood & Gates Around Arlington

Arlington sits in some of western Reno County's best grain and grazing country — wheat, grain sorghum, corn, soybeans, and a lot of cattle — and that's exactly the work we build for out here. Most of our Arlington jobs are agricultural: woven wire and barbed wire perimeter for cattle, field fence along the cropland, and corral and cross-fencing where stock crowds hardest. With farmsteads spread out along the section roads and the Arkansas River bottoms nearby, we're used to long runs and the equipment access these places need.

We also know the conditions. The open ground west of Hutchinson catches the full prairie wind, and the clay-loam soil out here bakes hard in summer then soaks in spring, so we set corner, gate, and brace posts well below the Kansas frost line in concrete and brace them heavy so they don't lean or heave. From woven wire and barbed wire to horse-safe rail fence and the occasional wood or vinyl yard fence in town, we build it to outlast the weather Arlington throws at it.

They installed my horse pasture fence and I could not be happier. They listened to my request, offered great advice to improve my design, and knocked down a number of small trees that were a fire threat to make a wonderful pasture. I would absolutely recommend them.

Cody did work on a neighbor's property and it looked great, so I had him come out to discuss replacing rusted-out panels of wrought iron. The quote was more than fair, so we scheduled the replacement. From start to finish it took less than 4 hours and it looks great. Yard and dog are now secure again. Highly recommend.

I am so impressed with River Creek Fence. Cody came out and did a quote — very friendly. He discussed what I wanted and asked questions. It took awhile to get scheduled but it was well worth it. The fence was replaced (cleanup included) in like 4 hrs! The new fence is gorgeous! Highly recommend!!! Photos don't do it justice.

Common Questions

Arlington Fence Questions, Answered

Yes — we work Arlington and the western Reno County farms all the time. We're based in Haven, about 22 miles east, and drive out this way regularly. Call Cody at (620) 899-5595 and we'll come out for a free, no-pressure estimate.

Out here it's mostly agricultural — woven wire and barbed wire perimeter for cattle, field fence along the cropland, and pasture cross-fencing. We also build corrals and working pens, safe horse fence, and the occasional wood or vinyl yard fence in town.

That's a lot of what we do. Quarter-section perimeters and big pasture runs west of Hutchinson are routine for us — we stretch the wire tight, set heavy corner and line braces, and hang gates wide enough for equipment and livestock to pass.

We set corner, gate, and brace posts well below the Kansas frost line in concrete so they don't heave when the clay-loam soil bakes hard then soaks in spring. We also brace corners heavy to stand up to the open prairie wind that comes across western Reno County.

It depends on the type and footage — barbed wire and woven wire run a few dollars a foot, while wood, vinyl, and ornamental cost more. Our free Fence Cost Guide breaks down real Central Kansas ranges, and we'll give you a firm, free quote on your exact project.
