A Farm-Country Fence Crew for Nickerson
Nickerson is real farm and livestock country, and that's exactly the kind of ground River Creek Fence is built for. Sitting northwest of Hutchinson out toward the sand hills and the Arkansas River bottoms, this is a quiet little railroad town surrounded by wheat, milo, and grazing land — and the fence out here has to do an honest day's work. We drive out to Nickerson regularly to put up the woven wire, barbed wire, horse fence, and ranch perimeter that keeps stock home and gates that latch true season after season.
Owner Cody Yoder grew up around farm ground and livestock, so a job near Nickerson speaks our language: cattle that lean on a corner post until something gives, horses that need a safe, visible fence, and acreages along the sandy bottoms that want a clean, straight line. We treat every project out here like it's going up on a neighbor's place — posts set deep, corners braced heavy, and wire stretched tight so it lasts.
Whether you run cattle on a section off the highway, keep a few horses behind the house, or need a yard fence around a place in town, we'll come out, walk the line with you, and hand you a straight, free estimate. No pressure and no runaround — just a fair price on a fence that earns its keep.

Woven Wire Fencing
Tight, no-gap woven wire for cattle, sheep, and goats — the dependable workhorse fence on most Nickerson livestock ground.

Horse Fencing
Safe, visible horse fence — rail and no-climb woven wire with openings that won't catch a hoof — for the acreages along the river bottoms.
Ranch Fence Installation
Full ranch perimeter, pipe corrals, and entrance gates built to stand up to Kansas wind and a hard-working livestock operation.
Holding Stock & Marking Lines Near Nickerson
Nickerson goes back to 1872, when the Santa Fe railroad pushed through and the town took the name of railroad president Thomas Nickerson — and farming and cattle have been the backbone here ever since. It's a small, tight-knit place with a few claims to fame, from Hedrick's Exotic Animal Farm and B&B just outside town to the summer of 1955 when Hollywood rolled in to shoot the movie 'Picnic' on local streets. Most of our work around Nickerson is agricultural: woven wire and barbed wire perimeter for cattle, no-climb and rail fence for horses, and cross-fencing to rotate pasture on the grazing ground.
Out in this part of Reno County the wind comes hard across open ground, and the sandy and clay-loam soils along the Arkansas River bottoms move with the seasons. We set posts well below the Kansas frost line, anchor corners, gates, and braces in concrete, and build corners heavy so a fence doesn't lean or heave when the dirt bakes hard and then soaks. It's a longer drive than some of our closer towns, but we run to Nickerson all the time and bring the crew, materials, and equipment to do the job right the first time.

They installed my horse pasture fence and I could not be happier. They listened to my request, offered great advice to improve my design, and knocked down a number of small trees that were a fire threat to make a wonderful pasture. I would absolutely recommend them.

Cody did work on a neighbor's property and it looked great, so I had him come out to discuss replacing rusted-out panels of wrought iron. The quote was more than fair, so we scheduled the replacement. From start to finish it took less than 4 hours and it looks great. Yard and dog are now secure again. Highly recommend.

I am so impressed with River Creek Fence. Cody came out and did a quote — very friendly. He discussed what I wanted and asked questions. It took awhile to get scheduled but it was well worth it. The fence was replaced (cleanup included) in like 4 hrs! The new fence is gorgeous! Highly recommend!!! Photos don't do it justice.

Absolutely. With horses kept on the acreages along the Arkansas River bottoms around Nickerson, we build fence that's safe and visible — rail fence, smooth-wire, and no-climb woven wire with small openings that won't catch a hoof. We'll match the fence to your horses and your ground.
We set posts well below the Kansas frost line and anchor corners, gates, and braces in concrete so they don't heave in the sandy and clay-loam soil near the river bottoms. We also brace corners heavy to stand up to the open-prairie wind that sweeps across this part of Reno County toward the sand hills.
It depends on the type and footage — barbed wire and woven wire run a few dollars a foot, while wood, vinyl, and ornamental cost more. Our free Fence Cost Guide breaks down real Central Kansas ranges, and we'll give you a firm, free quote on your exact Nickerson project.
