Serving Plevna, KS

No Job Too Far West — Even Plevna

Plevna is deep farm and ranch country. Sitting out on the far western edge of Reno County, close to the Stafford County line, it's a tiny railroad town surrounded by section after section of wheat, milo, and grazing ground — and that's exactly the kind of fencing work we love. River Creek Fence runs the whole western side of the county from our home base in Haven, building the woven wire, barbed wire, and pasture fence that holds cattle, marks lines, and keeps a working operation running.

Owner Cody Yoder grew up around farm ground and livestock, so a job out here speaks our language. We know what it takes to fence big open ground: corners braced to hold a long stretch of stretched wire, gates set wide enough for equipment, and posts driven to last through hard Kansas summers and wet springs. Whether you're running cattle on pasture, cross-fencing a quarter section, or putting up a horse fence behind the house, we build it like it's going up on our own place.

Plevna is a good drive west of Haven, but distance is no problem — we cover this whole corner of Reno County and out toward Stafford and Pretty Prairie all the time. Call us out and we'll walk the line with you, talk through what fits your ground and your stock, and give you a straight, free estimate with no pressure and no runaround.

Local Knowledge

Fencing the Wide-Open Ground at Plevna

Plevna got its start when the Santa Fe Railroad came through this part of the county, and it's stayed a small, close-knit farm town ever since — small enough that the State Bank of Plevna and the surrounding cropland still anchor the place. Out here the work is almost entirely agricultural: wheat, corn, milo, and soybeans on the cultivated ground, and cattle on the grass in between. That's what we fence — big perimeter runs of barbed and woven wire, pasture cross-fencing, corral and working-pen fence, and gates sized for tractors and trailers.

Fencing this country means building for the conditions. The open ground west of Plevna catches a steady prairie wind, and the clay-loam soil bakes hard in summer and soaks heavy in spring, so we set corners, gates, and braces well below the frost line in concrete and brace them heavy so they don't lean or heave. We stretch wire tight, line our posts straight across a long run, and clean up when we're done — fence built to stand on its own through the years.

They installed my horse pasture fence and I could not be happier. They listened to my request, offered great advice to improve my design, and knocked down a number of small trees that were a fire threat to make a wonderful pasture. I would absolutely recommend them.

Cody did work on a neighbor's property and it looked great, so I had him come out to discuss replacing rusted-out panels of wrought iron. The quote was more than fair, so we scheduled the replacement. From start to finish it took less than 4 hours and it looks great. Yard and dog are now secure again. Highly recommend.

I am so impressed with River Creek Fence. Cody came out and did a quote — very friendly. He discussed what I wanted and asked questions. It took awhile to get scheduled but it was well worth it. The fence was replaced (cleanup included) in like 4 hrs! The new fence is gorgeous! Highly recommend!!! Photos don't do it justice.

Common Questions

Plevna Fencing Questions

Yes — we work Plevna and the whole western edge of Reno County regularly. We're based in Haven, about 30 miles east, and the drive is no problem. Call Cody at (620) 899-5595 and we'll come out to your place for a free, no-pressure estimate.

We do. Plevna sits out near the Stafford County line, and that western corner of Reno County is part of our regular service area. We bring the crew and materials out to you, so the distance doesn't change the price or the quality — you get the same fence we'd build right next door in Haven.

Out here it's almost all agricultural — barbed wire and woven wire perimeter for cattle and grazing ground, pasture cross-fencing, and corral and working-pen fence. We also build horse fence and the occasional residential or yard fence for homes and acreages around town.

Absolutely — that's a big part of what we do out west of Plevna. We handle long perimeter runs and cross-fencing on big open ground, brace the corners heavy to hold a long stretch of stretched wire, and set gates wide enough for tractors and trailers.

It depends on the type and footage — barbed wire and woven wire run a few dollars a foot, while wood, vinyl, and ornamental cost more. Our free Fence Cost Guide breaks down real Central Kansas ranges, and we'll give you a firm, free quote on your exact project.
