Serving Pratt, KS

Western Kansas Counts Pratt Among Our Stops

Pratt sits well out west along US-54, the seat of Pratt County and a true ag-and-oil town surrounded by wheat ground, cattle, and pumpjacks. It's a longer haul from our Haven home base than most of the towns we serve, but we cover western Central Kansas gladly, and River Creek Fence makes the drive whenever there's a fence to build out here. From perimeter and cross-fence on the farms and ranches to clean residential and commercial work in town, we treat a Pratt job the same as one ten minutes from the shop.

Owner Cody Yoder grew up around farm ground and livestock, so the work that runs Pratt County speaks our language — barbed and woven wire that holds cattle on big grazing runs, gates that swing true season after season, and braced corners that take the pressure when stock crowds them. We know what a working fence has to do out here, and we build it to last instead of to look good on day one.

Whether you run cattle on a section south of town, want a privacy fence around a home near Pratt Community College, or need security and chain link around a shop or yard, we'll come out, walk the line with you, and hand you a straight, free estimate. No pressure and no runaround — just a fair price on a fence built right the first time.

Local Knowledge

Fence for Pratt Homes, Farms & Businesses

Pratt has deep roots in western Kansas — it's long been one of the state's leading winter wheat producers, and during World War II the nearby Pratt Army Airfield was the first base in the country to train B-29 Superfortress bomber crews. Today the town anchors a broad farm-and-ranch economy, home to Pratt Community College and the Beavers, the KDWP state fish hatchery, and the Kansas wetlands country that draws hunters and anglers out this way. That mix of working ground, sportsmen's land, and a busy little county seat shapes what we build, from heavy livestock perimeter to tidy fence around homes and businesses in town.

Out here the conditions are no joke: open-country wind comes hard across the High Plains, and the clay-and-loam soil bakes tight in summer then soaks in spring. We set posts well below the Kansas frost line, anchor corners, gates, and braces in concrete, and stretch wire tight so a fence stands straight for years instead of leaning after the first hard winter. Whatever the project, we build it to hold up to Pratt County weather and the work it has to do.

We called for an estimate and had a pipe fence in 2 weeks! Cody and his team work HARD and efficient together. From start to finish they were respectful of our property and truly demonstrated good workmanship. We highly recommend them!

They installed my horse pasture fence and I could not be happier. They listened to my request, offered great advice to improve my design, and knocked down a number of small trees that were a fire threat to make a wonderful pasture. I would absolutely recommend them.

Cody did work on a neighbor's property and it looked great, so I had him come out to discuss replacing rusted-out panels of wrought iron. The quote was more than fair, so we scheduled the replacement. From start to finish it took less than 4 hours and it looks great. Yard and dog are now secure again. Highly recommend.

I am so impressed with River Creek Fence. Cody came out and did a quote — very friendly. He discussed what I wanted and asked questions. It took awhile to get scheduled but it was well worth it. The fence was replaced (cleanup included) in like 4 hrs! The new fence is gorgeous! Highly recommend!!! Photos don't do it justice.

Common Questions

Pratt Fence Questions

Yes — we serve Pratt and the surrounding Pratt County country regularly. It's a longer drive from our Haven home base, about 55 miles west, but we gladly cover western Central Kansas. Call Cody at (620) 899-5595 and we'll come out for a free, no-pressure estimate.

With Pratt being ag-and-oil country, a lot of our work out here is agricultural — barbed wire and woven wire perimeter for cattle and grazing ground, cross-fence, and farm gates. We also build plenty of residential wood, vinyl, and privacy fence in town, plus chain link and commercial fence for shops and lots.

Absolutely. Pratt is one of the farther towns we serve from Haven, but we cover western Central Kansas and make the trip gladly. We line up materials and a crew for the haul so a Pratt job goes as smoothly as one closer to home.

We set posts well below the Kansas frost line — corners, gates, and braces anchored in concrete — so they don't heave when the clay-and-loam soil bakes hard then soaks in spring. We also brace corners heavy to stand up to the open High Plains wind that comes across Pratt County.

It depends on the type and footage — barbed wire and woven wire run a few dollars a foot, while wood, vinyl, and ornamental cost more. Our free Fence Cost Guide breaks down real Central Kansas ranges, and we'll give you a firm, free quote on your exact Pratt project.
