Rodeo-Town Fencing Done Right

Pretty Prairie is rodeo and ranch country to the bone, and that's exactly the kind of ground River Creek Fence was built to work. Set in the rolling Reno County prairie southwest of our Haven home base, this is a town where cattle outnumber people and a fence has a real job to do. We build the continuous pipe corrals, woven wire perimeter, barbed wire runs, and horse fence that keep stock contained, sorted, and safe across the pastures and arenas around town.

Owner Cody Yoder grew up around farm ground and livestock, so a job out in Pretty Prairie speaks our language: cattle that lean hard on a corner post, horses that need a smooth, safe rail, and working pens that have to hold up when stock crowds the gate. The drive down from Haven runs about 18 miles southwest, so getting a crew and a trailer of materials to a Pretty Prairie ranch is no trouble at all — we're out this way often.

Whether you're fencing a quarter section of grass, building a new set of corrals, or just want a tidy yard fence around the house in town, we'll come out, walk the line with you, and hand you a straight, free estimate. No pressure and no runaround — just an honest price on a fence that's braced right and built to last.

Local Knowledge

Corrals, Pasture & Arena Fence in Pretty Prairie

Pretty Prairie is best known for the Pretty Prairie Rodeo, billed as Kansas' Largest Night Rodeo and running every July since 1936. That four-day event under the lights says everything about this town: it's deep ranch and farm country, where horses, cattle, and good working ground are a way of life. The fencing reflects it — continuous fence and pipe corrals around the working pens, woven and barbed wire across the grazing pasture, and safe rail fence for the horses that haul to the arena.

Out here the weather and soil set the rules, and we build to them. We set posts well below the Kansas frost line and seat corners, gates, and braces in concrete so they don't heave when the clay-loam ground bakes hard and then soaks. We brace heavy against the open-prairie wind that sweeps this part of Reno County, and we stretch wire tight so it stays that way. From perimeter and cross-fence to a new corral or a horse paddock, we build it to take the pressure that ranch life puts on a fence.

They installed my horse pasture fence and I could not be happier. They listened to my request, offered great advice to improve my design, and knocked down a number of small trees that were a fire threat to make a wonderful pasture. I would absolutely recommend them.

Cody did work on a neighbor's property and it looked great, so I had him come out to discuss replacing rusted-out panels of wrought iron. The quote was more than fair, so we scheduled the replacement. From start to finish it took less than 4 hours and it looks great. Yard and dog are now secure again. Highly recommend.

I am so impressed with River Creek Fence. Cody came out and did a quote — very friendly. He discussed what I wanted and asked questions. It took awhile to get scheduled but it was well worth it. The fence was replaced (cleanup included) in like 4 hrs! The new fence is gorgeous! Highly recommend!!! Photos don't do it justice.

This is ranch and rodeo country, so most of our Pretty Prairie work is livestock fence — woven wire and barbed wire perimeter for cattle, continuous fence and pipe corrals at the working pens, and safe rail fence for horses. We also build farm cross-fencing and the occasional yard fence in town.

Absolutely. With all the cattle and arena work around Pretty Prairie, continuous fence and pipe corrals are some of our most-requested jobs out here. We build pens that hold up when stock crowds the gate, with smooth, strong panels and gates that swing true.

We set posts well below the Kansas frost line and seat corners, gates, and braces in concrete so they don't heave when our Reno County clay-loam soil bakes hard and then soaks. We also brace corners heavy to stand up to the open-prairie wind that comes across Pretty Prairie.

It depends on the type and footage — barbed wire and woven wire run a few dollars a foot, while wood, vinyl, and ornamental cost more. Our free Fence Cost Guide breaks down real Central Kansas ranges, and we'll give you a firm, free quote on your exact Pretty Prairie project.
